In memory of a Great Toastmaster and Mentor

Jim Rollingson, DTM passed away peacefully on Mar 21, 2018 at age 98 due to complications from a fall two days prior.
Jim was president of Scarborough Toastmaster Club in 1977 and 1985 and had contributed a great deal to our club and community.  He had won many awards in public speaking and evaluation in Toastmasters during his active years. He was a great mentor and teacher for many Toastmasters.

Jim will live in the hearts of many Toastmasters and those whom he had helped and guided.

Congratulations to officers elected on Wednesday May 18. Their term of office will begin on July 1, 2016. The following positions were filled:

Vice President Education, Shirley Zhao: Helping members learn and grow.

Vice President Public Relations, Roy Long: Club publicity and public relations.

Secretary, Rajiv Mahendran: Meeting and membership records.

Club Debate

Our club debate, which was held on February 24, 2016 was a success! Everyone present had the opportunity to participate. Each group of debaters was given a topic which members of opposing teams debated.

Scarborough Toastmasters' annual International Speech and Evaluation Contests were held on January 27. Congratulations to Jim Thibault (left), winner of the Evaluation Contest and Bryan Cresswell (right), winner of the International Speech Contest. They will now compete in the Area 35 Contests.

Open House

Our 56th Anniversary Celebration and Open House held on Wednesday January 20 was a tremendous success. The event attracted a number of guests, and representatives from District 60 and Division D also participated. See Snapd media photos.

Congratulations to our club member, Roy Long for placing second at the District 60 Division D Humorous Speech contest held on Monday October 26, 2015. Roy had previously won the Area 35 Humorous Speech contest.
